We endeavour to reduce the likelihood of custom/import charges to our customers, however if such fees are charged by Customs this is outside of our control. Therefore we are unable to reimburse any custom/import fees incurred.

  • that you have a current and valid prescription for the contact lenses that you are ordering.

You agree to renew your contact prescription in strict accordance with your Optometrist’s suggested regime, and acknowledge that www.eyesat.com.au cannot fulfil your order in the absence of a valid prescription. You hereby consent to our contacting your eye-care provider, to verify your contact lens prescription information and any other necessary information if the need arises.

All products are inspected before shipping and will be packaged in order to arrive in good order and condition at the clients shipping address.

  • are an experienced contact lens wearer who is fully understands the features of the product you are ordering.

  • understand the contact lenses suitability for your eyes, as determined by your usual eye-care practitioner.

 

When ordering coloured contact lenses, we (www.eyesat.com.au)  expect that you (the client) has already selected the colour you wish to order. Manufacturing defects are individually assessed on a case by case basis and normal warranties covering manufacturing defects will be adhered to. Yearly eye-tests and script updates will ensure an accurate prescription, which will ensure you order the correct prescription every time. Contact lenses incorrectly supplied will be replaced at our (www.eyesat.com.au) expense, orders cancelled incur a $15 cancellation fee.  This fee will be deducted from the amount refunded back to you.

How long does delivery take?

All deliveries from Eyes@Narangba are dispatched via Australia Post, NOD Couriers, and Star Track Couriers. If your order is in stock and is received before 2pm AEST, you may receive it next day, however deliveries will be made within 2-5 business days, but please allow up to 7 business days for delivery. If your order will take longer than 7 business days, we will notify you as soon as possible. Once your order is dispatched, you will receive a copy of your order emailed to you.

Paying Online - is it safe through your website?

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Web Server Certificates, such as the one used on this site are the standard for secure data transmission over the internet and encrypt all data sent to and from the web site.

When you are asked for your credit card details, you will notice that the URL prefix (located in your address bar) will change from the standard http:// to the secure https://. This means that you are in secure mode.

What is the Contact Lens Care Club?

Designed for those who intend to purchase contact lenses in-store at our street location.  If you are a brand new contact lens wearer, your initial Contact Lens Care Club fee will be $100 as it includes additional services required for a new contact lens wearer.  Every year after that the cost will be $60 per year.   Join the Contact Lens Care Club to receive

  • Access to the best prices available without the need to buy in bulk – through our App or Online Shop.
  • Training & updates in contact insertion & removal, trial contact lenses and trial solutions – at no extra cost.

What if I only wish to purchase contact lenses online?

If you have your own Optometrist providing you with regular eye-checks, the Contact Lens Care Club is not required.  If you require Eyes@Narangba to provide your eye-care, we would highly recommend joining the club – even if you intend to purchase contact lenses from us online.

 Why is there a $60 yearly fee for the Contact Lens Care Club?

To enable us to offer you the newest lowest prices available in store, and continue to offer the after sales service and health checks not usually covered by Medicare.  The in store low prices WOULD NOT be possible without the Contact Lens Care Club.

Our Price Matching Policy

We will gladly match a competitor’s price for the same product (please ensure extra charges such as postage/handling are factored in). Our condition is simple – we will compete against other GENUINE Australian providers of the same service.

What is a Behavioural / Developmental Optometrist?

Quite often a teacher may recommend to a parent the need for an Eye Test by a Behavioural Optometrist. This leads to confusion as “Behavioural / Developmental” are not words we normally associate with our Optometrist. An Optometrist who has developed their area of expertise through additional study and research in the areas of children’s vision specifically related to developmental/behavioural aspects of children’s vision may be known as a Behavioural/Developmental Optometrist.

The Three Key Areas of Vision

1) Visual Integrity – eye health and visual acuity (clearness of vision)

Assessment of your child’s eye health is a vital part of the eye examination.  Although it is uncommon in children, eye diseases can occur at any age in life.  Visual acuity can be affected by refractive errors such as Myopia, Hypermetropia and Astigmatism, and when required these conditions can be treated with spectacles and/or contact lenses.

2) Visual Efficiency – clear and comfortable vision

Blurred vision and poor focussing skills are common problems in children, these difficulties can be a barrier to learning. More commonly children can develop focussing problems after they have learnt to read which has a major impact on comprehension, concentration and reading stamina.

Glasses and eye exercises help children maintain clear and comfortable vision for learning and enjoyable reading. Treatment of minor focussing problems may also help reduce the risk of myopia and the development of other visual disorders.

3) Visual Information Processing – understanding and analysing what we see

Problems with visual processing are common in children with learning difficulties. These problems include visual thinking, visual sequencing, visual spatial organisation, reading eye movements and visual motor integration. Vision therapy can help develop and integrate these skills, so that your children become more visually ready to learn.

Visual information processing problems often coincide with language, auditory and sensory/motor integration difficulties. If you notice such concerns, we would recommend a comprehensive eye exam at Eyes@Narangba.  Children may be referred to the appropriate allied health professionals as we work in close partnership with: Occupational Therapists; Speech Therapists; Chiropractors and kinesiologists.

Behavioural Optometry

Behavioural Optometry is an expansion of general optometry in which the three above key areas of vision are integrated into the overall care of our patient adults or children. General optometry emphasises healthy eyes, clear vision and the importance of comfortable and efficient vision. In addition to this, Behavioural Optometry also investigates and manages the effects of Visual Information Processing on attention and learning.

Behavioural Optometry is an approach to vision care that aims to maximize visual function in all situations in life.  From this, it is not just important that a person sees well, but are able to process what they see in a comfortable and stable manner, which will affect how a person views and responds to the world around them.  Behavioural Optometry is many things to many people even within the profession. The common link is the understanding of vision and how to encourage its development. It tends to be more holistic in its approach as it tries to incorporate the physical, neurological and developmental aspects of vision.

 

Goals of Behavioural Optometry

The goals of Behavioural Optometric care are:

1. To prevent vision problems and eye problems from developing.

2. To provide remediation or rehabilitation for vision or eye problems that have already developed (eg. eye turn, shortsightedness, visual sequelae of brain trauma etc).

3. To develop and enhance the visual skills needed to achieve more effective visual performance in the classroom, work place, when playing sport and following recreational pursuits.

Your Behavioural optometrist will provide an in-depth examination of visual abilities.  This will include a comprehensive eye health examination and an investigation of visual acuity (the ability to see small detail).  In addition, your behavioural optometrist will examine focusing skills, eye teaming (the ability to use both eyes together) and eye movement control.  There will also be assessments on a person’s spatial judgment (knowing where things are in space) and the ability to process visual information (understanding what you see).

Which patients may benefit from Behavioural Optometry?

All patients will benefit from this holistic approach but it is especially suited to those with eye motor control problems, lazy eyes, developmental delays, neurological damage or learning delays.

Although the majority of Behavioural Optometrists’ patients are children, Behavioural Optometry may be suitable for patients of any age if their condition is likely to respond to this treatment.

How is a Behavioural Optometrist different?

Behavioural Optometrists spend years in post-graduate and continuing education to master the complex visual programs that are prescribed to prevent or eliminate visual problems and enhance visual performance.

Not all optometrists practice Behavioural Optometry, which includes neurodevelopment and functional optometry.

Medicare, Private Health Insurance and Eye-exam Fees

Eye Exams

  • Medicare usually covers 40 to 80% of the scheduled fees related to the eye-exam.

  • All patients are charged the full scheduled fee for any eye-exam unless illegible for assistance through DVA.

  • If you or your child has been seen elsewhere within the last 3 years, the Medicare will rebate will be smaller as some eye-exams Medicare covers only every 3 years.

  • When transferring between Optometrists it is possible to reduce your out-of pocket Medicare Gap.  If your previous Optometrist writes a referral letter for you to transfer to Eyes@Narangba, we are able to ensure your out of pocket expenses remain as low as possible (regardless of WHEN your child went to your previous Optometrist).

Why does Eyes@Narangba charge the full amount and not bulk bill for eye tests?

Our Optometrists – Lisa and Charlotte have many areas of interest:

  • Children’s Vision (Behavioural/Developmental Optometrists)
    Adults Vision (Behavioural/Developmental Optometrists; therapeutically endorsed; CASA Certified)

Allow around 45 minutes for an adult or children’s eye exams and we may need to see you or your child for a few review visits.  The extra time spent with you or your child (allowing extra tests performed) are covered by this ‘out of pocket’ gap you pay.

First time visit with my child:

Please allow 45 minutes for your child’s first (Initial) appointment with us, following appointments won’t take as long.  Please arrive about 5 minutes early as you will have some paperwork to complete as well. We also have a lego table and friendly staff to assist families bringing extra children who aren’t being tested.

In house and take home vision therapy:

These are NOT covered by Medicare and covered by a handful of Private Health Insurance Companies.

Glasses:

Medicare does NOT provide any funds for glasses, Private Health Insurance Companies Optical through your Extras cover) does provide funds for glasses.  Health Fund rebates vary substantially between companies and levels of coverage.

Accoring to the TGA (Therapeutics Goods Administration),

“To purchase or import prescription medicine in Australia, you must have a valid Australian-issued prescription.”

  • Activity History consists of orders, enquiries, votes submitted via the website, or offline contact you have with us such as phone calls.
  • Publishable content consists of comments or other submissions of content you would like us to publish on our website.

Contact details and publishable content are collected when supplied by you either via the website or direct to us by other means.

Click trails are recorded by our servers as each request reaches the website. This includes but is not limited to:

Maui Jim Lens Techology

Maui Jim’s Polarized Plus technology is a multi-layered approach to sunglass lens construction combining the best technologies to reduce glare.

Construction of these lenses begins with the polarizing filter, which is tinted to the lens colour. This film is placed between two special lenses, which are coated with a scratch-resistant treatment. An anti-reflective coating is applied to the back of the lens, and a bi-gradient mirror coating is applied to the front of the lens. Claiming Private Health Fund Rebate for online purchases

When we send you your contact lenses we will include a receipt that features health fund codes for the contact lenses that you have purchased, the receipt also features a provider number.

Send this receipt to your Private Health Fund for processing and you will receive your rebate from them directly. Many health funds require a copy of your current contact lens prescription prior to processing your claim so it’s a good idea to include a copy of this with your receipt when claiming to avoid complications.

What should I do if my eyes are blurry, sore, red, dry, watery, or have a discharge when I wear my Contact Lenses or after I take them out?

You should see your optometrist as any of these symptoms need proper investigation to protect your eye health and maximise your comfortable wear of your lenses.

My Contact Lens Prescription is over 24 month old can you supply me with contact lenses?

Unfortunately your prescription has expired and we cannot supply you with contact lenses. If you wish to continue to wear contact lenses you will need to see your Optometrist for a new prescription or call Eyes@Narangba to arrange an appointment (if you live locally).

Often this consultation is free if you have a Medicare Card. When booking an appointment with your Optometrist let them know that you require a contact lens prescription, as often your spectacle prescription can be slightly different.

Contact Lenses & Swimming?

Contact lenses can be the best vision correction option for athletes, enhancing visual skills like depth perception, peripheral awareness and coordination.

Contact lenses offer a competitive advantage because they stay in place under all sorts of conditions eliminating the risk of injuries from glasses.

It is, however, best to not swim while wearing contact lenses, because of the bacteria in the water that can adhere to the lenses and cause infection.  If you are swimming in contact lenses, the safest option would be to wear swimming goggles

Cleaning & Storing Contact Lenses

Contact lens wearers should always wash their hands before handling their lenses to avoid transferring dirt and germs to their eyes. Avoid moisturizing soaps or alcohol based hand cleaners, as they are not good for contacts. Hands should be dried with a lint-free towel.

When one lens is removed, clean it with the recommended solution to remove eye-produced buildup, cosmetics, and other debris that hinders comfort.

Some products require rubbing of the lens with a few drops of solution, while others only require rinsing. Rinsing is then required again to remove any loosened debris. Afterwards, the lenses can be placed in a clean lens case or holder, and filled with the appropriate solution for soaking and disinfection. Disinfection time varies, depending on product. These steps should be repeated for the other lens, and the lenses can be stored in the lens case.

Every pack of solution generally comes with one or several lens cases – these are made to be used, not collected!

How do I claim from my Private Health Fund for my contact lenses when purchasing them online?

When you purchase contacts online through www.eyesat.com.au you will need to deal directly with your health fund for your rebate.

If you wish pick up your contacts and claim your Private Health Fund in store, simply select [In Store Pickup] for your shipping method. In store pickup incurs a $14 handling fee, postage to your door is $9.

By joining the VIP Contact Lens Club you will be able to save money on your contact lens purchase while using your Health Fund Card in-store as you pick up your contacts.

Australia Standards for Sunglasses

Australian Standards

The Australian Sunglasses Standard, AS/NZS 1067:2003 was revised in 2003. It now defines lenses and the protection they provide into five categories (see table below). Our sunglasses provide excellent UV protection. The level of sunglare protection depends on the shade of the lens. The darker the lens the higher the level of sunglare reduction provided.

You don’t need to refinance your house to fantastic  sunglasses to get excellent protection. All sunglasses that comply with the Australian standard will provide the protection you need. A good pair of sunglasses will provide excellent UV protection and help prevent eye damage and disease.

Why wear sunglasses

Exposure to high levels of UV light can result in both short and long term damage to your eyes. Cataracts, cancer of the eye and pterygium (a thickening of the film over the cornea) can all be the result of long term UV exposure. In the short term, headaches, swelling & irritation of the eyes and “snow blindness” are all the risks associated with unprotected eyes. It is not just your skin that needs protecting.

 

Polarised Lenses

Polarised lenses stop reflected UV rays that bounce off hard surfaces and helps you to see clearly in certain situations. UV refelection depends on the surface the light is hitting. When you are in a park playing on grass there is little reflected light (approximately 1%). Sit on the sand and the reflected light increases to approximately 10%, sit in a boat on the water and it may reach 20% and on the snow it can reach an amazing 80%.

 

Polycarbonate and Acrylic lenses

Polycarbonate lenses are exceptionally tough and are the preferred choice of sports people. Acrylic lenses offer an exceptionally high level of UV protection particularly when combined with a wrap. Any sunglasses that comply with the Australian Standard will offer the protection you need to help prevent eye damage. If you are after optimum protection, choose sunglasses that wrap around and are close fitting.

Antioxidants and Macula Health

Everybody produces free radicals every day – they are generated within the body through a variety of mechanisms. Antioxidants act as ‘free radical scavengers’, and many free radicals are taken care of by the body’s own free radical antioxidant defences. However, there are some free radicals that elude these defences, resulting in cellular damage. Research suggests that free radical cellular damage can accumulate over time. Antioxidants such as Zinc and Vitamins C and E can help to defend against free radical damage in the macula region of the eye.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin and Macula Health

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are carotenoids naturally found in the human eye, with the highest concentration found in the macular area of the retina. In the macula, Lutein and Zeaxanthin naturally form a layer called the macular pigments, which serve as an effective natural filter of the most damaging UV light.

Supplements containing natural Lutein and Zeaxanthin esters have been shown in trials to increase the density of the macular pigments. Higher macular pigment density is associated with healthier eyes, protection of retinal tissues, and retention of youthful visual sensitivity.

Appointment Cancellation & Rescheduling policy

Here at Eyes@Narangba we understand that unplanned circumstances can affect us all and you may need to move of cancel an appointment.  If this occurs, we respectfully ask that you notify us by 3:00 pm on the day prior to the appointment you need to change/cancel.

Our Optometrists, Vision Therapist and other staff members wish to provide the best possible care to all our patients. When a patient fails to show for an arranged appointment, another patient loses that opportunity to be seen.

Although Eyes@Narangba has always had a cancellation policy, circumstances have caused us to enforce a policy of charging for no-show appointments and  appointments which are not cancelled before 3 pm on the day prior to your appointment.

As of January 1st 2016, there will be a fee of $25 for missed appointments.

Thank you for being a valued patient and for your understanding and co-operation as we implement this policy. This policy will enable us to open otherwise unused appointments times to better be able to serve the needs of all our patients.
